Improving Traffic on Gramercy Park

See August 2005 letter from Arlene Harrison to Mayor Michael Bloomberg detailing number of traffic accidents on GPN from 1996-2005

For two decades, the GPBA has worked with New York City Department of Transportation (DOT), the 13th Precinct, elected officials, Community Board No. 6, the Trustees of Gramercy Park and area residents to improve traffic around Gramercy Park.  Together we have enacted measures to improve traffic safety, reduce congestion, and to rehabilitate and maintain the streets around Gramercy Park.   All issues related to crashes into the Gramercy Park fence come under the jurisdiction of the Trustees of Gramercy Park.

Some of GPBA's many initiatives have included traffic signal changes, "No honking" and other street signs, traffic safety recommendations, and addressing oversized illegal trucks from local streets.  As a result of GPBA efforts, traffic on Gramercy Park has improved, including the easing gridlock on Gramercy Park North, and reducing the number of vehicles crashing into the Park fence.
