Thanksgiving Week 11/19 Update
Disaster zone: This aerial photograph shows the extent of the damage to the Breezy Point section of Queens, New York, now littered with burned-out homes

Thanks to the compassion and generosity of our neighbors, and working directly with Manhattan South Detectives, especially the Homicide Squad, we sent 18 vans and truckloads of critical supplies directly to those in need in Midland Staten Island, Red Hook and Coney Island Brooklyn, Breezy Point Queens, the Lower East Side housing projects and other areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
To learn about the more than 100 deaths attributed to Hurricane Sandy, see the NY Times 11/18 article "Mapping Hurricane Sandy's Deadly Toll"
Although many of you may have given already, recovery and rebuilding will go on for months and years to come. As long as we have your financial support to continue our efforts, we will be there. Our focus this week is on Thanksgiving dinners for our local first responders, who have been working around the clock and will be working that day.
