SEO Celebrates 50 Years of Matching Talent with Opportunity

Since 1963, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity has made a lifetime of achievement possible for 10,000 talented young people from underserved and underrepresented communities.

Last night at Cipriani Wall Street, a sold-out crowd of over a thousand people attended a joyous celebration of the 50th anniversary of  Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO).   In 1963, at the age of 24, our extraordinary neighbor, incredible friend and Of Counsel to the Trustees of Gramercy Park Michael Osheowitz founded SEO.

SEO's mission is to provide academic enrichment and career development opportunities to talented young people from underserved and underrepresented communities. In 2012, SEO was selected as one of the top-performing nonprofits in the country by Social Impact Exchange, after having been rigorously screened for proof of impact.

Michael is Chairman Emeritus of the Edwin Gould Foundation (EGF), which was formerly located at 23 Gramercy Park South.  There he worked in collaboration with innovative non-profit partners in order to increase the number of college graduates from under-resourced communities.

We are proud of Michael for his many achievements and are grateful to have him as our dear friend.
